Thanks for the comment. To answer your question – I think I would, with the proviso that competition is fierce and there are too many lawyers chasing too few jobs. There’s a lot of doom and gloom out there but there are many worse jobs to be had. No career is safe now.

It really is quite sad what’s happening in the legal profession. We’re now moving from thousands of career paralegals who were once hopeful of getting a training contract to unpaid interns. Law is a great career and a great degree to have, but would you recommend it to your kids as a safe career with great prospects ?

I don’t give legal advice through this blog I’m afraid. As a general rule it is only when fixed term contracts are renewed past their fourth anniversary that they “convert” to permanent contracts, but there may well be other issues in your situation which need to be borne in mind.
